| A full day trip through the Burren to the Cliffs of Moher is a must see while visiting County Clare in Ireland. From Glocca Morra, turn left out of the drive towards Scarriff. Follow this road to Tuamgraney and turn left on the R352 in the direction of Ennis. Before entering Ennis there is a first roundabout for the N18. Turn right in the direction of Limerick. Follow the N18 and take the second offramp for the N85. Follow the signs for the N85 and Ennistymon. Stay on the N85 to Fountain Cross and turn right onto the R476 to Corofin. Follow through Killinaboy and after about 3 km there will be a turn to the right for the R480 and the Gleninsheen and Poulnabrone Megalithic Tombs. This is the heart of the Burren. After visiting the dolmens, follow the R480 to Ballyvaughan. Follow signs for the R477 through Murroogh and Fanore on the way to Doolin on the R479. Doolin Point is a favourite surfing area and a great place to stop for lunch. Afterwards continue on to The Cliffs of Moher on the R478. After climbing the stairs to O'Brien's Tower be sure to stop in the new visitor centre and see the multi media centre including area film footage of County Clare. After viewing the Cliffs, continue on the R478 to the N67 in Lahinch. Continue south through the towns of Rinneen, Milltown Malby, Quilty and Doonbeg to Kilkee. Kilkee is a lovely resort town with a horseshoe shaped beach area that has been popular with families from Limerick for generations. Head to the beach and take your shoes off to feel the cool water of the Atlantic Ocean. After Kilkee take the N67 to Kilrush and follow the N68 back to Ennis. Before entering Ennis, follow the signs to the N18. Get on the N18 in the direction of Galway and then take the second offramp for the R352 for Tulla and Scarriff. Turn right at the roundabout in the direction of Scarriff and follow this road to Tuamgraney. In Tuamgraney turn right at the island in the direction of Killaloe and the R463. Continue on for 8 km, which will bring you back home to Glocca Morra. |
